Main Street (INF only) - File Description  


Description:
$ TEXAS $ is a map making machine! He is back to wow all of you Infantry only lovers out there! This 4 player map takes place in the heart of a major city; The center of the map is a wide open street with little cover, so be sure to get ready for some serious battles. Between the Main Street and the player bases are narrow alleys and streets that are excellent for infantry.

All of the buildings needed in this map are provided, so you do not have the capabilities to do it yourself; Tanks can travel through the city without any problems, but each side is provided with enough Anti-Tank so tanks are vulnerable.

To show that anybody can get inspiration from anything, Main Street has been inspired by ·Col. Clark·'s Infantry Insurrection.

On a side note, this map was the subject of a personal contest between $ TEXAS $ and ·Col. Clark·'s Cliff Conflict. A collaboration between the two developers might make for a great map...hint hint.

Description:

Main Street:
A 4 player map (infantry only), This map is located in the heart of a major city
the center of the map is a wide and open street with little cover. Between the
"Main Street" and the player bases is narrow alleys and streets that are excellent
for infantry.

note: in this map you can NOT build buildings, all needed buildings are provided off the start
you can get tanks through your Commander abilities, tanks can travel through the city
without any problems, but each side is provided with enough Anti-Tank so tanks are vulnerable

Instructions:

-Unzip all the file in "Main_Street.zip" to:

"C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes\WW2\Scenarios"

Note: "\HP-Administrator\" may go by a different name on your computer


This is a .sga file and does NOT require the "-dev" in the Company of Heroes shortcut
if you already have the "-dev" it's not a problem.

Very nice map. I definitely liked this one. Though the commander you have isnt all that effective until later on.

There is enough room to build a MG nest and a medic station. But if the intention is to not allow the players to build anything, you may want to refine the map to include a medic station and an mg nest for defense.

For those who enjoy my maps, this was the last of five maps I finished before releasing my first map "Road2Caen". I am still going to work on other maps , and I am going to try and use some .SCAR files to enhance my maps .

I am also considering making a joint map with ·col. clark· but I have two current projects to finish first. smile

To "Kahn1", (building bunkers, MGs, and medic stations) is ok I just didn't want vehicle yards created.

I'm starting to become a fan of $ TEXAS $.

Great map...your battlefields are always fun to demolish. Great detail and plenty of shrapnel to go around. I really enjoy how you take a simple premise and make it great fun...a map doesn't need to look flashy to play complex. At first, the map seems rather plain and nondescript, but the battle unfolds from the windows and ebbs and flows well. Just stay out of the street!

So far, this is the best map I've played representing a house-to-house conflict. I destroyed almost the entire map, and the last stand was always tenuous until I finally won...so nice defenses. For being such a fast-paced map, it's surprising how long it can take to beat down a defended position.

So...i'm gonna go play the Axis now...heh. Thanks for the great map.

and it doen't start. Cry

I have no directories like

How can I start the game with this map?

I have to give it a poor score for teh simple fact that it doesn't even start. Like the person above there are no directories so installing it isn't possible. Even going so far as making up these directories from new folders do not work as well.

great map, personally i love infantry and think vehichles are too clumsy in everywhere but wide open spaces, and their useless in here! Three things though, #1 why are there .30 cal MGs in the AXIS base, those are american guns, #2 this map needs to be a little bit bigger, intense combat would occur within the first minute of the game and not end until one side was destroyed, and lastly it's a little unfair Allies have access to all their infantry while AXIS have access to only three (volks,MG,and sniper), nothing wrong with snipers or macgine gun crews but the volks are horrible infantry.

Its been a while since I checked in on this map, so:

to #7 you need to create the folders for:

or go to :

and you can get a sga unpacker to install the map to old way (Program files location)

to #9 I built this map before I knew about scar files and I didn't want to give the Axis building that could build vehicles, so i tryed to provide them with mortors and at guns to try and balance the sides. I know the map is small and in the future I plan to do a remake that is larger and scar coded.

This is one of five maps that I had finished before I even released the first one, so after gaining experience I plan to remake most of the environments into better maps, (Swamp, Desert, industrial, and Heavy Urban) at the moment the Desert is complete and sent in, altough not posted yet and when I get some free time I plan on doing the Urban next (most likely inf only with vehicles provided through special events NOT buildable).

Hmmm, maybe #9, you played with random start positions - I did that once
Anyway, great map, but i'd like the Kreig barracks. Grenadiers are too important to me! Also, I know the main road is meant to be open, but one of those burned-out buses would be so cool here
