| NEW LYES KROVY OVERHAUL (3.0) - File Description |
 |
Description:
Lyes Krovy is a 4 player map, with pretty spare resources. This promotes skirmishing with infantry instead of bunkering down and holding out for tanks. In describing the map I can do no better than to quote the author "The map consists of dense forests, creating natural chokepoints which tend to widen during intense fighting as trees are blown to pieces. Rural homes are scattered throughout the map. A small town is located on the central island surrounded by a river delta. A rail depot sits at the edge of the map. An island beneath the main bridge features an abandoned power station. "
Personally, I feel that this map needs a few more routes opening. It's incredibly easy to block routes off in CoH and the centre bridge is so important that it's all but inevitable that the bridge will end up so heavily fortified that it's impossible to pass without a heavy preparatory bombardment. Given the level of resources, it's unlikely that either side would be able to afford this. With humans, this map wouldn't be a huge amount of fun as it would end up being very static, until the VP timer very slowly ticked out.
However, the AI cheats more than a little in the amount of resources it get's, and will spam units at an incredible rate. If your after a map to bunker down against the massive waves that the AI throws at you, this is certainly the map your looking for.

Lyes Krovy
"Bloody Forest"
UPDATED VERSION 3.0
<br>
<br>
*****IMPORTANT NOTE*****
- The "Arnhem" and "Best" bridges on this map must not be destroyed. There is a glitch which prevents these bridges from being rebuilt. Unfortunately, I have been unable to set the bridges to invincible. If anyone is able to find a solution, please contact me.

This is an expansion of my first map by the same name. Still up to four players, medium size. It overhauls my scenario based upon combat in the forests of Belarus during the Second World War.
<br>
<br>
In this updated version, the area of operations focuses upon a fictitious river delta in the French Alsace-Lorraine region. This map is designed exclusively for infantry, though armor can be employed fairly easily as well. I had originally set the weather and time settings to create a foggy nighttime scenario. As it ended up, the map was too dark according to my tester, so the time has been set to a foggy dawn.
<br>
<br>
The map consists of dense forests, creating natural chokepoints which tend to widen during intense fighting as trees are blown to pieces. Rural homes are scattered throughout the map. A small town is located on the central island surrounded by a river delta. A rail depot sits at the edge of the map. An island beneath the main bridge features an abandoned power station.
<br>
<br>
Rivers wind their way through the map; they can be crossed at several bridgeheads. At the same rate, the bridges must also be well-defended to prevent enemy attacks into the player's own territories. Use of airborne or gliderborne units and artillery greatly aids Allied players' efforts. However, for an optimal experience on this map, only land-based infantry should be used.
<br>
<br>
When played in "Victory Point Control" mode, it is necessary to hold three Victory Points: one point is located in town. A second point is located at the small rail depot. The third point is located on the main bridge which is critical to offensive and defensive operations on the map. Munition points, fuel points, and manpower resource points have been strategically placed.
<br>
<br>
During testing, the fighting on this map was strong and concentrated. Despite the seemingly simple design of the map, defense and offense can be complicated at times.

Known glitches:
1). There is a howitzer located in the center of the map under a grove of pine trees, assigned to "World." This unit
could not be deleted during production of the map. It will not be visible during gameplay but will appear on the
minimap when units are close by. The howitzer cannot be used by any units.
2). The street lights and house lamps currently do not function, as I was unable to load night / day transitions.
3). Glitches have been observed relating to the destruction of the "Arnhem" & "Best" Bridges. As noted above,
if anyone is able to set these bridges to invincible, please contact me. I have not been successful in my attempts.
<br>
<br>
Please report any additional glitches to me for correction.

ENJOY!

Eric_the_Red From: (Philadelphia) Joined: August 13th, 2010 Posts: 13 | Far as I can tell, the screenshots are correct for the map. That is, unless the mods uploaded a different version other than the latest one I submitted.
Also, I should comment that the munitions point near the river (at the base of the bridge where there's a boat docked) doesn't appear to be accessible. So, I'll be releasing an updated version to correct this issue and a few minor things I've come across.
Still haven't had any success with making the bridges invincible. If anyone is capable of editing the .SCAR file to rectify the problem, please have at it! |

I've experienced the same un-deletable objects in the Map Builder myself. |

Were you able to get the map to work after you downloaded it? The first poster above has indicated that the map doesn't match the screenshots shown.
I'll be releasing an updated version of this map again to fix some problems that I've come across. Among the improvements to be made: I'll open up some more routes (remove / adjust trees) and will make sure all resource points are accessible. |

Nobody has contacted me with a way of making the bridges invincible. Otherwise, a new version of the map would be available. |
magus1 From: Joined: May 20th, 2010 Posts: 142 | Yeah, I noticed the bridge, also you cannot get the ammo under the bridge without chewing up the trees, which takes the whole game. I think I won this after a tremendous struggle. Please, amend Eric, plus, a sneaky footbridge across to the Northeast would be nice ;]
I salute you!

It would definitely benefit this map.
I'll upload a newer version of this map this evening - a few things have been fixed except for making the bridges invincible. |
