Strackensberg (1.0) - File Description

Description:
Map Size: Extra Large.

Max Players: 4.

Created Using: Company of Heroes World Builder v2.602.0.199

Map description: A moderate urban environment, with a small outlying area accessible only to infantry (unless you have access to the British Tetrarch tank...).

Miscellaneous: No mortar bunkers, heavy weapon emplacements or scattered squad weapons.

Resources: See Tactical map image.

Victory Points: 5 (see Victory Point map image).

Note: I like a lot of detail in my creations, and this map was made, initially, for my own amusement. It runs fine on my rig: Windows 7 64 bit, 6 GB DDR2, GeForce 8800 GT 1GB video, Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz cpu. Let me know it you have any issues, and I will look into solutions.

From the map info file:
"German forces retreat towards Berlin, and are ordered to engage in a delaying action at a small Austrian town that has yet to be touched by the war."

In essence, I created this map because I wanted to be the cause of all the war damage for a change. There are no damaged buildings, craters, fires or debris piles... yet ;-)

The file package includes lobby mini-maps to show starting positions, and an action-snapshot loading screen. Where to extract the files is detailed in the 'Read Me' file. Enjoy!

Haven't played this multiplayer yet, but immediate impression is that its an outstanding map - lots of detail, no serious issues. And great to see all parts of the map provided - which frankly makes a change.

Thanks for the feedback wink

I was hoping there were still enough players out there who were still interested in new map offerings.

We've played this now - 2 humans against AI - and can report no serious problems at all. Having the sneaky ways across the water makes a lot of difference, although we found one route didn't actually go all the way across.

Our rating: 9/10

I've reviewed the impass map, and did not see any unintential blockages. Screenshot the area in question, and e-mail to joe_stracke@hotmail.com; I've been looking for an excuse to upload an .sga archive of this map, anyway...

Some high quality maps recently and this looks like it will continue the trend. Shall report when played. Size of file says a lot of work has gone into this.

I salute you!

The new file package has the new version of the map, as well as an .sga archive. I believe I managed to both enhance the level of detail *and* reduce loading time (largely via a more judicious use of splats).

Also added a few bits of 'urban renewal' to several parts of the town ;-)

Two days, and the file is still "pending".

Here, for a while at least, is the sga map and change log:
